His book John Henry won the highest ever award for children's books, The Caldecott Award.

Julius Lester was also a photographer and musician! 

John Lester cared about the human race and wanted equality for all people! 

He wrote this book called Let's Talk about Race:

While you watch this with your family, you can think about how everyone is a story. 

Tell your story, dance your story, draw your story and listen to the stories of the people around you.
