A blog dedicated to ideas and conversations about: The Arts, arts education advocacy & activism, social justice, violence in society, cultural and media literacy, The Humanities, teaching & creativity, children's literature, classroom management and character education. Plus other things I'm sure I'll think of later.
I am an art teacher living in a small New England town and teach nearby in a more urban place in a large diverse public school. I've taught in Charter Schools and in an international Montessori school. I've worked for Sesame Workshop and Nickelodeon as an online producer, voiceover artist and curriculum writer. I believe all children yearn to learn. My favorite color is lavender. But really I like all colors. Besides teaching art and loving my job, I also love to hike in the woods with my dog Arden, collect quirky and vintage children's literature, make hand-built pottery shaped like people, do tiny paintings of trees, and have conversations and brain storming sessions with like-minded creative people. And my dog.
