Bob Ross: Practicing Kindness While Painting!

A big thank-you to Artist Jacqueline Yanez for the beautiful design of Bob Ross above! 👆

Hi Roxbury Artists & Families,

Here's another Inspiring Artist to share with you!

I've been watching Bob Ross painting on Youtube! While Bob paints, he likes to talk to his audience. He likes to explain how to paint, and he uses really interesting art tools to paint. Look for them while you watch!

Some people liked to paint along with Bob Ross, and some people just enjoy watching and listening to Bob while he paints landscapes.

Landscapes are paintings of the outdoors in nature.
Things you can find in landscapes are:

  • Trees
  • Plants
  • Flowers
  • Water
  • Buildings, like barns or houses
  • Birds and animals
What other things does Bob Ross add to his paintings?

I think Bob Ross is a very kind person, and this comes through as I watch him paint. I especially love his pet squirrel Peapod! He treats Peapod and all creatures with kindness and caring.

Here's what you can do:

Watch a Bob Ross video with your family. While you are watching, think:
  • How is Bob Ross showing kindness?
  • What words does he use?
  • How does he act?
After you watch Bob Ross videos with your family, draw me a landscape, adding anything you can think of that is outside in nature

Then write a few sentences about how you felt when you watched Bob Ross painting. Talk with your family about it, too.
How can you show kindness, every day?

Please send me your artwork on ClassDojo or email it to me at kweinstein@stamfordct.gov
Don't forget to put your name on your artwork! 😉
