You Silly Monkey!

Hello Roxbury Artists!

Monkeys! You need to know all about monkeys if you want to draw them, so let's learn some facts about monkeys and see them in action!

The monkeys you see in the painting above the video were painted by Chinese artist, Wang Yani, when she was 4 years old. Her father was an artist, so her interest in art started when she was very young. When her father brought a monkey home for her as a pet, she became so interested in them--she started drawing and painting them all the time. You can read more about Wang Yani right here.
You can watch a short video, that shows Yani, painting her monkeys.

When you are ready to draw, remember you'll be using shapes and lines, because you know that you can draw almost anything using The Elements of Art, right?
Here's another way to draw a monkey, because you remember, there are many styles and ways to draw everything! That's what art is all about!

Finally here's a monkey using simple lines and shapes...she looks like she's dancing!

So, now you are able to draw a monkey, you can say "monkey" in sign language!

Oh, Artists? Remember to have an adult send pictures of your art and messages to me through Class Dojo or Google Classroom! I want to see your creative work!
